Warez MB – August Edition

Don’t you find that if you push really hard on something, you need a little downtime to get ready for the next thing? I do. Finished quilting and any day now I’m going to get going on the next part. Honest!

Yesterday I did a little painting and a little writing. Oh, and it’s the return of the August Postcard Poetry Fest. Tenth year for the Fest, third time around for me. Simple premise – sign up and get put into a group of 31 other people. You send a postcard every day to the people on the list starting with the person below you on the list and everyone else does the same. The leader of the PoPoFest would prefer that we write directly on each card and send it out as is. I’m not quite there. I write on the screen but I don’t edit. So I’m close. You can see last year’s cards up in the menu bar above.

What else. Work. Back to school. Upcoming vacay time and oh yeah better get that project done and done.

Today, this was on my doorstep!

HP and the Cursed Child

Should be fun after listening to the Silmarillion. Some parts more than once!

Beren and Lúthien

Then suddenly, when her hope was almost spent, he woke again, and looked up, seeing leaves against the sky; and he heard beneath the leaves singing soft and slow beside him Lúthien Tinuviel. And it was spring again.

#Bobbincount the 10th

A practical note for those who chance here, discovering this blog: I began with twelve empty bobbins and have two as yet uncounted bobbins which are partially full of thread. I will now start to re-use the ten bobbins now empty. And if it seems, to your willing ears that my speech has become long and of a manner more familiar in older times, it mayhap be laid to the first part of the audio book I am listening to. Long those words feed down into sentences and then to gathering tributaries of interwoven rivers and tales, bearing along those with many similar names and many varied lands and places now lost to time. Although the fair people of those places may no longer be known in our own lands and it being uncertain that the dwarfs shall ever again wrought bobbins as in the shining hour of their realms, I will re-use the bobbins you see before you, remembering always the friendship that many treasured in their time and the strength with which they bent against the evil one who shall not be named here.

Getting Ready to Quilt

I’ve been listening to Walden in the car. It’s pretty good for commutes. It’s not, it turns out, great for quilting to. Last night I ended up finishing a good chunk of quilting to Paul Simon. I had the epiphany that there are few tunes I’ll reach over and hit ‘play again’ in the universe but one of them is definitely “The Only Living Boy in New York“. Who knows how this stuff happens.

In other news, if you order something that comes via UPS and you’ve signed up for myUPS, you can throw a little money at them to deliver it as UPS rather than turning it over to the post office. It says it probably saves you a day or two and they only charge you IF they do that. So I had a couple packages sent from Amazon with free shipping and for $3.50 I got them a day early. I was excited and yet felt virtuous. There’s an app for that (the myUPS thing, not the virtuous thing…)

Besides a copy of Mary Oliver’s Rules for the Dance, there was this:

which I’m busily getting ready to put on my iPhone…
