The Small and the Loud of It, Poetry Dept.

First, a haiku from the other day on the way to work:

Dance with abandon,
Curved limbs against the March sky,
Spring leaves safely sleep.

And then the closest thing to a slam sort of poem I think I’ve ever written, also written one day this week on the way to work.

Why, I want to know, why.
The flag snaps.
Why, according to you and
A god
I don’t believe in,
I have to do things
You believe in,
Your way. Only.
When, according to
No god at all
We could figure a way
To do what’s right
For everyone
With no trouble
for anyone.

I can’t watch the news anymore.
